DON JUAN || Macerata Opera Festival
This new Don Juan can be considered a show of Chamber Theatre due to its power to underline nuances and feelings: dance becomes a magnifier for every single character, slowly but effectively revealing the interior world of men and women.
Inger surely is a reference to that Scandinavian culture that made psychoanalysis a keystone to many stories, with references to the artistic world that lead to Ingmar Bergman’s cinema and theatre and Mats Ek’s dance.
In the original Marc Alvarez’s music sheet, created for the occasion, the 16 Aterballeto dancers narrate the whole Don Juan in just one act. Embedded in a scenic space designed by Curt Allen Wilmer, without any connotations from a geographical or historical point of view: a labyrinth of structures moved by the dancers.
